Steering box removal/replacement
Just did it on a 1971 Demon........No Headers
This worked for me.
Drive out the pin holding the coupler to the steering gear
Drop steering column inside vehicle.
Slide steering column and coupler (as a unit) rearward off steering gear.
Wheels turned all the way to the right.
Remove pitman Arm.
Remove nut from engine mount isolater on D/S
Jack Engine up on left side.
Unbolt steering gear from K frame.
Twist, turn and F with it until it comes out. :)
BTW......I installed a stud where one of the steering gear bolts go and that really helped when I re-installed it.
***NOTE*** be gentle manipulating the steering column as you may pull the shaft out of the coupler, and/or damage the nylon pins indexing the 2 parts of the steering shaft.
Good luck.
