Need opinions on this Demon for $25k

This might of been true two years ago, but the way the classic car market is going as of now I’m doubting it. That covid price jump is over now, I’m seeing if first hand on Craigslist and offer up. Everyone is dumping their high prices.

No- it was true last year, because that was when that auction was. The pink '70 Duster in the first row at $61,600 is a /6 to 340 clone. The '71 in the second row is a real deal 340 4 speed.

Is it true at this exact moment? Who knows. It does seem as though the market has softened some, but you don't need the top of the market for a clone to be in the $60k range for the original car in this thread to be in the $20-$25k range. The investors in this game aren't having money troubles, so the high end is unlikely to change much. The regular folks are a different thing, so the middle may not be moving as much volume and people may have to cut prices if they have to move something fast. What something is worth to someone is always a moving target.

Are there better deals out there to be had? I'm sure there are. Are there worse deals out there? Absolutely. There are a lot of "lipstick on a pig" builds in that price range, lots of cars with shiny paint hiding an inch of bondo. The middle of the market is probably the worst spot to be looking, they will all have issues of one kind or another, and if you concede the wrong "issue" you can end up with a really expensive project and a car that won't do what you wanted to do with it.

But even then, there are not an unlimited number of these cars around. If the car you want comes up, well, sometimes it's worth paying "too much" for a given condition to get the car you want at the time that you want it.
