Look what surfaced this weekend

Tom Acquiring this block to me was like finding that 426 Hemi covered by a under a tarp under that bench where someone is moving with a sign on the gate that states ...everything must go.... in all honesty I had given up on ever finding one.

The 340 will be a severe duty ready to drop into the Duster with reliability in mind as well as street and drag race without trying to kill the Engine as it will become a standby spare but like every 340 it will need to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Enough said....
The 340 will be switched back & forth to my "Shop Run Engine stand" switching places with another already built 1985 360 for obvious reasons of cam break in , Oil leak checks, Any unwelcomed noises etc... common things we want to know prior to installing only to find out what?????????? is happening.... after its already in the hole becoming a spare for my 72 Duster. But even more ........

Here in Texas some school districts still have Automotive Shop class where the class tears down (Mostly 60-70s trucks ) the truck to the frame rebuilding every system on the truck frame including blast & prep, total engine rebuild to body work & paint which look and function like brand new at the end of the school year.
Through contacts various teachers of these classes have asked me to bring my "Run engine stand to their school for educational class purposes plus it will pull double duty being useful for pushing that hot standby engine outside the shop and putting a good 15-20 minute run time on the engine keeping it alive and functional for future use.

I am a huge advocate of getting wrenches in these young peoples hands and take the game boy away from them and smash the ^***ing thing with a 4 lb hammer (Can I get an Amen) and am focused on finishing the run stand for this purpose this next fall..... but cant right now.

AS of this past Thursday morning I was taken to the hospital to have emergency surgery for a double hernia ---one which was obstructing my bowel.....due to trying to be HEE Man once again the night before........ AS my friend said there is not many spare parts left over for old farts these days.......

Yeah my gut hurts but I am out of that stinking place back home doing design work on the 340........Thank you Lord.... NO MORE HEE MAN BS for this cowboy.........
Have the greatest week ever because I am................ Texas Red......... Gary
