I don't like the way that the kickdown cable for the transmission is so high and angled down. Maybe that bracket is not right, it looks to be aftermarket.
I don't know who put the Quadrajet on there, but I would remove that for another carburetor. If not... you may be spending a lot of time on something that might never be right
