What advantages are there to painting the inside of the block?

I tried Glyptal paint once in the lifter valley
It never hardened after a week I called the company
They said I must have put it on too thick?
Idk if that was really the problem or not
So I spent a ton of time getting if off and then sanded / polished the valley.
Just my experience
