Weekend Headliner Project
Part 2 of the Headliner saga, I decided it would be more economical and time saving to make the sail panels myself, especially since im technically using the incorrect 71 metal style rear window trim pieces instead of the later model plastic ones that actually go to the cardboard headliners. All in, I had a total of $29 and some change between the board material, the fabric, and the spray adhesive. I didn't count the masking tape or cardboard in that figure because it was just stuff i had laying around. The best price I saw for just the sail panels alone was 35$ + Shipping/tax so overall i did the job for about half what it would have costed to just buy the panels, except mine were a guaranteed fit with the 71 style rear window frame trim pieces.
I Started off with some scraps of cardboard and started taping them together and trimming/tracing until i got a sort of rough shape that looked sort of like what was needed, then i trimmed it from there further, traced it onto some board material, then trimmed/tweaked it until it was a perfect fit before wrapping in matching material. The results speak for themselves, im super happy with how they turned out.
I will be doing the back seat delete panel over winter to match as well.
