When I bought my 71 340 about 8 years ago it was just the short block, forged crank, stock rods and pistons bored .030 I gave i believe $400 for it. I had to have it sent to the machine shop to the tune of another 550 plus another 450 for a nice pair of 202 j heads. The going prices around here are anywhere from 1k for a bare block up 3-4k for complete motor also depending of the year.
