I sold a bare standard bore 340 block about 15 years ago for $500.00, don't recall what year it was, maybe a 71 or 72, and a 72 date coded factory intake for $150. I also sold a pair of 67 date coded 'X' heads that needed rebuilding for $500.00 two years ago. If you have a complete engine it should be worth $1500 - $2000 cdn IMHO.

I agree 2k is high side negotioable Id be looking at the block is it bored can it be bored etc. Crank is it forged can it be turned down etc. a good core that still has meat on the bones etc. a good core is able to withstand 1 rebuild with machine work that means not sending it out and the shop says "its no good pitted needs a sleeve "etc. that to me is no go for the high side price. It is somewhat risky now that these engines are 50 plus years old.
