KDP is not all that hard to check, everyone who's into 12-valves knows about it. Similar story with VP44 pumps, they aren't great and have issues but if you upgrade to a high-capacity lift pump and run lubricity additive in the fuel they run for a long time. Worst case you just convert to mechanical setup like a P-pump or even VE pump. In recent years guys have figured out how to build VEs get 600+ HP.
