72 duster blinker / brake light issue

Canceling is a mechanical thing. You have to have a working switch. Basic brake lamp switch is only 2 wires, pink and white. If you have more than the 2 you have a switch for cruise control. Turn signal does not go back to a fuse box. It goes to the rear harness and bulbs. You can confuse me. Wiring diagrams help. If you can get the rabbit to the Trix on the back of the box you can follow a wiring schematic.
