1975 360 usually has 1.576 compression height pistons that put the pistons .111 below deck for 23 cc's. Add in a 7.5 cc dish and 68 cc chambers (if you're lucky!) with a 4.14 bore plus a .040 head gasket (11.25 cc's) makes a total chamber volume of near 110 cc's. You'll be flying if you have 7.8:1. Add on some trick flows with the 1008 gaskets and you'll have 8.5:1. Use some Mr. Gasket 1121G head gaskets (4.14X.028) and you'll have 8.68:1. If you're lucky and your pistons don't have a dish (high performance 360 E58 four barrel), You'll get 9.2:1. That would get you into your 400 hp number pretty easily with the right cam.
