Stop in for a drink.

I rode south with Travis today to pick up a few cases of Cedar Ridge bottles. The Iowa Whiskey Chasers group picked a couple barrels. Both were QuintEssential barrels, American Single Malt, one was a Port finish (I believe) and the other was a Peated Malt in ex Bourbon casks. I wasn't a huge fan of the wine finished. It had a ethanol kick and tasted immature to me. Trav knows I don't like Peat but I tried it anyway and it was absolutely delicious. Not too much peat. Smooth, creamy, vanilla, powdered sugar sweet and a little almond. We tasted 4 different bottles and went back in to buy a couple more. I also bought a Penelope Architect (French Oak Stave finish) because of Trav's recommendation and he bought a Angels Envy Triple Oak which was really good as well. I had to stop somewhere. Ted and I are driving to Wisconsin tomorrow and stopping by Driftless Glen for a 10 year Rye release and also Dancing Goat to see what they have going on. It should be an expensive but fun day.
