New lift.

I worked at a tire/auto service place for about 4 years back in 80s. Rarely anything very new to play with but even those still were prone to leak anything anywhere. Store got financially burned a couple times before parking one under another was banned. No the new ones don't leak like the dinosaurs but they can. Anything that can happen will. Good luck
I don't know about other brands, but my Benpak has a series of locks it goes through on the way up. At full up, I listen for the mechanical lock falling into place( it's loud and easy to hear) and then lower it about 3 inches onto the locks. It will NOT go down until you raise it 3 inches, and pull on the cable releases all the way down. With the locks engaged, it will not go down if there's a hydraulic failure. Come to think of it, I guess the car is stuck up there until the hydraulics are restored to working condition. A well engineered product.
