A833OD Aluminum Case - Part Of The Bearing Retainer Broke Off?
Good evening ladies and gents,
Started pulling my new to me 1974 Plymouth Scamp with a 4 speed swapped in (swap was done by the previous owner) apart for some much needed maintenance. I drove the Scamp for a few months and had zero issues with the transmission other than some howling in 4th gear. I decided I would start with removing the transmission first, then the motor. To my surprise, part of the bearing retainer has been broken off. This is my first manual transmission car so this is all a bit new to me. Should I be looking for an issue somewhere or should I be looking for a new bearing retainer? I planned on taking the transmission to a trans guy to have it looked over and rebuilt with gaskets due to it leaking EVERYWHERE, as well as a new clutch kit. If some of you could spare some advice it would be much appreciated.
