Heads , 440
Wanting to buy some nice heads for my 440. Its a street car that may see some strip action every now and then. I DO want to get the most out of it as i can with what i can afford. Its a .030 over bored 440 with TRW 2355 pistons, which have a 2.062 compression height. street dominator intake, MP 284/484 cam (will probably be changing it also i know its not near good..also want suggestions on cam), Demonsizzler built thermoquad, 3000 stall convertor, electronic ignition. 1 7/8 fenderwell headers. this is in a dart. so i dont think i can swing the trickflows so have narrowed it down to 4 different heads:
Edelbrock E-street
Stealth WITH the CNC port job and valve job
Pro Maxx shocker series.
speedmaster (only has a 74cc combustion chamber..not sure if that will work with my pistons? Anyone? All other heads on my list have 84cc chambers.)
SO, i can get the edelbrocks for a few hundred cheaper, BUT still have to have them gone over at the machine shop which will cost, AND they only have 210 intake runner. The CNC ported stealths and the promax both have the 240 intake runner. The speedmaster has a 265 intake runner, but the combustion chamber is only 74cc..not sure if thats going to raise compression TOO high and cause issues.. Thoughts? all the other heads are 84cc chambers. I feel the stealths and promaxx and speedmasters are going to perform a good bit better than the e-streets because of the bigger runners so leaning towards one of them. the only problem with the promaxx is that they wont ship out till the end of december, but i can wait. The E-streets would be a little cheaper than the rest but also look like they arent going to flow as much as the other 2 because they come ported already. So there is a lot of folks here with more knowledge than me so any thoughts on what im leaning towards?
