Looking for advice. Want to build a Duster to run on a budget.

This is in no way an attack on anyone; but if people keep perpetuating the myth that building cars and especially mopars takes a wheelbarrow full of cash, all the new people interested in these cars will get discouraged and not even try. then the hobby will slowly die off and there will be nobody to take it further. everything can be done cheap, and mostly safe.

I completely agree, and that's the issue with some of the purists that are constantly discouraging of anyone that isn't doing some full OE, concourse level restoration.

I've seen so many people get an old project car that's probably not all that far from being safely on the road get it home and immediately tear it completely apart and start what is going to be a years long project that they may never finish, because they think they need to have some perfectly polished show level car. Because there are still WAY too many purists and show car types out there looking down their noses. And then those same guys start threads on here about how the "hobby is dying" all the time.

I'd much rather see someone take a car that's not perfect, put the time and effort in it to get it running and back on the road, and drive it. Because then you're actually seeing these cars on the road, and making the memories that makes the next generation want to do the same. The problem is, for all the people that think it's great to see an old car on the road, there's all those guys that perpetuate the nonsense by asking crap like "when are you going to paint it" or "why didn't you do it all at once". Well, because I like driving my car and I don't care if it doesn't look cosmetically perfect because I'm not trying to impress anyone. I like driving it, and as long as it functions I don't need perfect form.

If I had a picture of your car I’d submit it as the second best looking car on fabo. I love your car. It’s so well done, and you drive the crap out of it. What the hobby SHOULD be about.
Thank you sir! I love driving my car, and I love talking to people about it in person. Because while there are some people that ask silly questions, most people in person aren't as condescending or disrespectful. Many are just so happy to see something different!

Your idea of respect is completely different than mine , you lost mine when you spouted off and called me an A-hole.
I've seen some of your replies in various threads, the net gives you the freedom to grow 6", gain 100#'s and spout off.
You will have a hard time finding a thread where I pump my chest and throw insults or call names.

Again, your first post was dripping condescension and disrespect. Yes, I took it personally because your suggestion about what would be appropriate to honor YOUR father flies directly in the face of everything I learned from mine.

So yes, maybe I read into it more than I should have. But I know for a fact this isn't the first time you've been condescending and discouraging to people with projects, nor is the the first time I've said something about it. Maybe my responses are more passionate, but I'd rather have that than your constant air of condescension.

The thing about purists is, everything they know is in the FSM, and you can get that without the attitude.

As for the rest of it, I absolutely promise I would say everything I've said directly to your face as well. Your implied threat would go no where if we were in person.
