IHRA buys the WDRA What does that mean for the racers?

IHRA 1/8 miles on all the classes on its nitro show national events I think is to insure car count with the generally budget nitro guys that are showing up at these events. I can see the virtue there.
What I don’t understand is cutting back stock and super stock to 1/8 mile.
That in some measure gets rid of the innovation that makes those classes what they are. The 1/8 makes for more parity in those classes, kind of a socialist outcome.
