First off Happy Thanksgiving.

I have a 741 center section with two bolts. I would like an adjustable pinion snubber but the ones I have seen for the 8-3/4 are all 4 hole design. Will the rear holes of the 4 hole snubber fit in the 741 case?

I believe all 8 3/4 snubbers are 2 hole.
The extra holes are not used.

As far as I know the 741, 742, 489 are externally the same in the snubber area

Probably, but why? Imo, a snubber is the most useless part ever put on a mopar.

I have a properly adjusted snubber on one of my cars and it works extremely well with stock springs. 425HP and no wheel hop.

When I had one on my car, adjusted so it was close enough to the floor to do something, it beat the **** out of the floor at every bump.
When I went to the track, video showed that it was at least five inches away from doing anything when the rear raised on launch. So, it did nothing on my 550hp car, except slow it down.
It gave me great pleasure, and subtracted five pounds from my car, when I threw it in the trash.

I have been thinking that the pinion snubber on or cars in stock form has more to do with weight from passengers in the back causing the body to get closer to the rear end, at some point the pinion snubber would contact the body and keep the drive shaft / yoke from hitting the body

Just a guess from looking at how far it is from anything it could hit if the rear rotated during launch.

They were designed for stock to mild leaf springs and four speeds. The SS springs don't need them even with a four speed.

This is true. I replaced the stock springs on my 62 B-body with super stocks, because the stockers lifted the body too much at launch (the five inches referenced above ^), causing the shocks to top out. The ss springs solved both problems.
