Starting spot for jets...

Just curous if anyone has an opinion on where i should start with jets.. Just bought a new carb and it's a bit large for my current motor (bought it for the next motor but want to use it for now)

850 with annular boosters..
Current motor is a 318 with trick flows and a howards roller 232@.50

Carb came with 78/86 which is gonna be way too big.. Was thinking 68/76?

will tune with a AFR gauge when i get it installed.. just wanna start in the right area.. And time to blow $100 on a jet kit.. :(

Holly calibrates there stuff at sea level I think, then they have guidelines to where you go from there based on your altitude. Something like one bump for every 500 or 1000 feet. You'd need to look it up I'm afraid as I don't have it in front of me. Lot's of talk here in the past on using AFR gauges and how they can "lie" so look do some searching to find that. I agree with @RustyRatRod though, that's an awfully big carb for that engine. Maybe start with a 600 which will give you way better low speed velocity of the air fuel charge.
