Mopowers' 66 Dart Build

best extend the bump stops down closer to the axle then, if not the shocks 'will' bottom out before you reach the bump stops. at that point you won't be doing the shocks any favours.
anyway, think about the ride height extension/compression thing. does suspension tend to have more compression from ride height than extension in normal use? yes is the answer, especially the way our roads are these days. so why would you want more extension than compression? that's totally arse about face to normal common sense.
i worked for 4 years at a rally car parts supplier and they are agents for 'gaz' who make their own shocks and coilovers. they suggest close to 1/3 compressed at ride height so you are left with a further 2/3 compression before hitting the bump stops.
neil.
ps... up to you what you do but with only 2 1/4" of compression left and much more than that before contact with the bump stops something has to change, for safety.
