440 Cooling Question “Champion Rad”

Ok this was an exhaustive experience. Let me tell you about it. Leave now if you don't like stories.

Tons of phone calls and talking to techs and sales reps today. So I'll document today.
When I woke up the first call went to Champion Cooling Solutions. After being on the phone for about 30 minutes we decided the tube size in their 2 core rads would not make the cut and I wasn't ready to buy a 3 core. .75" pipes wouldn't cut it.. Was a no go. They said a stock 440 no worries. It's too bad there Rep was fantastic and wasn't going to sell me something that wouldn't work. So I moved on. Called Champion next........ and moved on. Called Cold Case afterwards and they were very helpful with tech and making sure I had and would have adequate cooling for my HP estimates. They then referred me to Summit for the order as they have better option into Canada. I talked to the Summit sales rep on my cooling needs and he confirmed with me that the rad I had picked out would do the job with a 16" fan that's doing just shy of 2900CFM. He also said the tubes were much much bigger. Providing I don't have an over happy water pump and the coolant can dwell a bit it will be solid. Then he hit me with the backorder. March 3rd ship date. I then said hold the phone and called back Cold Case. They said they had a batch of rads heading to Summit but also suggested I call Jegs, so I did. Talked to their tech / sales rep and came up with the same thing Cold Case, Summit said. I should be good to go. This rad is a bit shorter on top and 1/4 inch wider on each side. sSo it's going to fit come hell or high water. but will it cool. I will decently wake up this thread when I fire it up and will eat humble pie if need be. That being said I decided to order from Summit to my door.

**What the reps said. 180 thermostat pared with a 100amp+ Alt. My run stand 60amp will run the fan but not fully full out.
Told me to keep an eye on the temp but said it would probably not be an issue on the stand.

So now we wait. Summit said as soon as they showed it'll ship. I'm hoping it comes way sooner than March as I need some time to iron bugs found on the stand and also to see if this will cool the beast. If not I have an expensive rad for my stand and my next build. So won't be a total loss. uggg

I learned not only on this forum but also from friends that there is a varying opinions and options out there. Some of you are very passionate on the subject and I appreciate you all.

I can't wait for my 727 build up next. This is sure to be a thrilling topic. I'm definitely going with a bolt in sprag but that's another thread.

Thanks everyone.
