Ok, you don’t want the coolant “dwelling” in the engine.

Unless it’s 1945 and it’s a flat head ford.

Use a high flow water pump and thermostat (Stewart Components is all I use any more) and make sure the water pump is turning crank speed or faster.

Never under drive the water pump unless you are turning 8500 rpm and you need to slow it down

interesting. I was told you wanted the coolant to dwell a bit longer in the radiator and to slow it down a hair and use a 180 stat. She’s a 6500 RPM. Not that she’ll see that. Mostly a cruise night special.
