Looking into doing my first paint job next year.

SS and the correct temp. reducer, that is the first hurdle! for me anyway.
The correct temp reducer/hardner combo is paramount to getting your paint(SS or clear) to lay/flow correctly, or the metallics in your basecoat to lay nice and even as well. Now lets start talking VISCOSITY of said reduced/catalyzed product, thats a whole other ball game
The few good guys can lay down SS to look like clear. I am sure not one of them.
The trick to laying down SS is to treat it as if you were spraying clear, not too dry or heavy, you have to have the correct mil build, especially if you are spraying metallic SS.
The correct gun is also key to a quallity job IMO, some paints dont like certain types of guns. One time I was at a new (high-end)shop spraying a new to me paint line(Autocolor I think it was) and I couldnt get the clear to lay for the life of me. The boss was starting to get very frustrated and wondered if he made a mistake hiring me, until the paint rep was in one day and I talked to him about it. He proceeded to inform me that their paint doesnt really like HVLP guns, but prefer RP guns. So I ordered up a new SATA RP and viola, clear like glass after that. Damn rep could have told me sooner about that little tidbit. :BangHead:
