And you're right. It seems like the guys that really stand it up have 3 speeds.
My glide/brake car would do a very nice controlled wheelstand, but I have about 500 less hp than you., (and maybe 500 lbs less weight.)

For sure, agreed. I have nothing against the glide. I build a handful of them for people and they last and work well. I know I’d be a candidate for one. Just never felt like changing my whole setup and spending all that money. With today’s co2 or electric shifters, having the “one less thing to mess up with the extra shift”, kind of fell by the wayside in my opinion. If I was ever to do a glide, it would be more to split up the track into two gears as opposed to 3.

I always felt that the glides bigger advantage was less on the starting line because of less ratio but more so with splitting the track up into 2 gears. So with my 3 speed, I know 1-2 shift is between 60-80’ out. 2-3 happens right at or before the 330’. Leaving only 330’ left for 1:1. Where as the glide typically gets shifted at 100-150’ out depending on the setup, leaving 510-560’ of track in 1:1. And a lot of people are up against the converter for a good majority of the 1:1. Making the consistency very good.
