Stop in for a cup of coffee

and

I’m sorry to hear this. You give everything you got when you Serve, and hope you don’t get “nothing” in return.

My father was in the Army and served in Korea (helicopter support of some sort, I forget right now), and when he talks about it (seldomly), he says the experience of Serving was positive, but he doesn’t have a lot of nice things to say about the Army. Which is why he seldom talks about it, I guess.

Anyway, thank you for you service, and I sincerely wish you the best.

I'll get a pension when I'm 60. That's about it. Worth about 650 bucks a month before taxes at current dollar amounts. If they medically retire me, I get to keep tricare eligibility for life. Otherwise, that's it. I guess there's some VA stuff, maybe. From what I've been told, its really really hard for the VA to give benefits to Guardsmen even if the law allows it.
