You mean the snaps not buttons. You have to do one on each side then the one in the center of the rear then in the center between them and leep going to the center of the last installed. This keeps the belly between the snaps down. They make a hand tool to install the snaps. Yes it will contact but leaving it to relaxed may cause it to get bellies in it . I helped the person install mine when I did my 62 and it was not that hard.
