My pitman arms bolt in from the top of the center link on my slant 6 ( nut facing the ground)

I found this diagram a while back somewhere here on this site. I happen to print this one out because I had steering box questions, but I think this shows a pretty good picture of what you need Dusterboyy440.

I can't seem to find where on the site that I found this? I hope it isn't some of the copyright materials that we are not to post? If it is I apologize in advance.

I know this is an old post but I was doing a search on steering parts and this one came up. We are putting our steering back together and my center link does not look like this one, ours is almost straight and where the pitman arm and idler arm go through, they are the same direction as the tie rod ends.
Is there a difference between /6 cars and v8 chassis. We really cant tell which way is left or right on this one. obviously we know which is top or bottom because where the pitman arm bolts up it has a flat side.

This was originally a /6 converted to a 360 engine .

Please help us out. Bob / Bryce

From my research and I am NOT an expert on a bodies the center link for a V8 drops down for oil pan clearance and the /6 doesn't. Schumacher engine mounta has a good tech that explains what's needed to put a v8 in and they recommend using the v8 center link for oil pan clearance. You might go to their sight and check it out. Hope that helps.

You have a 73+ center link and the studs on your pitman /Idler should point down.

There is NO difference in center links on 67-72 and 73-76 cars. They are all the same, v8 or /6.
