Just wanted to know what you guys thought about frame ties?? I got my car on a rottiserie so now would be the time to do it,was looking at some weld in from magnum hp but not sure if I need to go to that extreme. I am probably going to be at 400 Hp.
 
frame ties are a GREAT idea. your car will twist a little bit over time.

here are mine from magnumforce tig welded in place.

Frame ties make a noticeable difference in how the car handles, but I would recommended waiting until the car is assembled and sitting square and level before welding them in. You wouldn't want to weld in the sub-frame connectors on the rottiserie and hold the car out of alignment. These cars twist that much.... ESPECIALLY with that back window out. :thumblef:
 
good call john. i didn't see the back window out. that is a structurally integral part of the car.
 
Thanks guys,I didn't think to much about the car being in a twist or anything being disassembled. I am going to wait until I have it done before the ties!!

Yeah...these things twist REAL easy! The link below not only shows you how to make a pair of frame rail connectors, but how to install them. Although it's not mentioned, you can see in the photographs that the car is supported on jack stands for the installation. In a recent issue of either Mopar Muscle or Mopar Action they did an install where they mentioned leveling the car using a bubble level before doing any welding.

I'm waiting until my car is assembled and driving before I install my sub frame connectors.

I welded a set in my 69 Dart when I did the resto and it really did make a noticable improvement in the handling and ride of the car. Glad I did it! I got mine from Mancini Racing.
