Paint stripping tricks

Is there any paint stripping tricks or it is just put in on, let it sit then strap off.

I think that the stripper in the spray cans seems to work better than the brush on stripper.The stripper will usually strip 1 coat at a time. Hope that this helps.

I found recently if you cover the stripper with paper ( i used masking paper)
it worked 10X's better i think it traps the vapors in and made it work longer

Make sure you have proper ventalation!!! Or else you'll be on the ground saying "Dude, where's my car?"

Take some 80 grit sandpaper and scratch up the area then apply the stripper. The Talstrip Aircraft Stripper seams to work the best for me. It is a paste. Along with the ventilation add thick rubber gloves!!!!!!!!!!

When my wife stripped the paint off our 65 Dart GT convertible, she used the Talstrip, rubber gloves,long sleeves and mask. Don't let the stuff get on your skin - it burns like crazy. The stuff works good on paint.

All sounds good but "DON'T FORGET YOUR EYE PROTECTION" It is one thing to get a little of the stripper on your skin! Hand,Arm etc. But If you get any in your EYES You will be saying more than "DUDE WHERE IS MY CAR" !!!!!!!!
One of the maint hings is to make sure you leave it on there long enough to WORK!
Also depending on how many layers of paint you have you may need more than one application per area. Never get too much on that you can't remove or handle safely quickly! It may be best to just do one panel at a time like start with the roof,then the trunk,then the hood,then a front fender, a door , quarter panel, rear etc.
Especially being this is your first time. Don't try to do too much at one time! We used to have a local CarWash that we would go to and there would be 3 or 4 guys and we would cover an entire car with the gallon cans of Airplane Stripper,shoot the **** for a little bit and then pressure wash the car off with the CarWash wand and wash all the crap in the holding drain.
Worked really good! Now of course the EPA or other Enviromental Agencies might get REALLY MAD! about doing that now but years and years ago it was OK. Remember what we did was YEARS AGO! I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING IT NOW But it worked well! Also the strippers used nowdays are more enviromental friendly!
Just remember to READ ALL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY ON WHATEVER PRODUCT YOU USE AND FOLLOW THEM ! ALWAYS USE PROPER PROTECTION ! DISPOSE OF LEFTOVER ITEMS AND PRODUCTS RESPONSIBLY AND SAFELY!

Trick is to scuff entire area to be stripped with some 40-60 grit on a DA Sander (be careful) not too heavily. Then, the stuff can get under and lift the paint. I find it much easiser and less messier than sandpaper alone, Get as much off as you can,(Multiple coats of stripper and Patience) Use a 2" putty knife with a slightly dull/rounded nose to do the scraping.Then DA 80 Grit. Work from there will leave you a nice surface to work from.
