I posted about this on my post in the general board, but it was overlooked....

"i did have a little noise....it is quiet (as compared to the exhaust) and the sound is like ignition interference into the stereo, except I have no radio, so I know it's the rear, but maybe it's just new gears???"

but in addition to that....
The boooklet that came with the gear set has a nice little disclaimer in it....it says that in most cases, all aftermarket gear sets have some noise.....
anyway...thought i'd throw that out there....
but what has me concerned, if it IS a setup problem, is that the depth is engraved into the pinion head, but when I set it to that depth, it was WAAAAY too far away according to the pattern....so i set it up with a good pattern instead of using the given depth...and maybe that is what is causing the faint whistle
i think i can probably live with it because I barely noticed it and I had to hang my head into what used to be the back seat area and could barely hear it over the exhaust.....and all i have besides the factory sheetmetal back there is the fiberboard trunk divider.....i was mainly just curious about everyone's thoughts on it....

Ive never had an 8-3/4 that didnt make a little noise. Maybe it will quit down after break in and a switch to synthetic fluid.

The 8 3/4 3.23 makes a little noise in my car also,it's been doing it since i rebuilt it but never had any problems with it and it's been about 4years now.

YES....mine is around 45 mph, too......yay....at least it's not a growl or a howl....guess then i'd need to worry.....just a faint whistle

oh....and I made chili last night to take for lunch at work, so I guess the title IS descriptive of both my rears....my car and myself.....
