Dana 60 or 8-3/4

I watched a show on this very topic once. They took a 340 Dart with an
8 3/4 3:91 rearend, ran it down the 1/4 mile 3 times then replaced the 8 3/4 with a Dana 60 4:10 rearend and ran that same car 3 more times down the 1/4 mile. After they compaired the average times from both rearends and there was little to no difference in the performance because the 8 3/4 is lighter and the Dana 60 has a higher gear ratio they pretty much cancelled eachother out. The Dana 60 is pretty much bullet proof, the 8 3/4 is a real strong rearend too but not as strong.

I't really comes down to what you can afford, if your friend can build you a solid Dana 60 for around what it costs for a complete 8 3/4 i say go for the Dana. But if it's going to cost more then you really want to spend go for the 8 3/4 then go for the 8 3/4 since there is no real difference in performance.
