I see someone is reproducing early A console plates and ashtray doors.
They look good in the photos but too bad they cost $575 for the set. Have any of you seen them at shows? How much does it cost to rechrome the originals? Mine have lots of pits. I'm sure not cheap. I saw them on Herb's
and on B-E&A's websites. toolmanmike

I have mine out for chrome right now. Its costing me $700 for the 3 console pieces and $600 for my hood inserts & 8 weeks (I had quotes upto $2200!). Parts were not in that bad of shape. I have seen some re popped parts that look great, but depending on the part and your budget, I think if you have your original stuff restored you are better off, due to quality of the chrome and metal etc. I could have bought all re popped parts and saved $300 - $400, but atleast this way I have a full warrenty of the parts and know they fit.

$700 for my console, $700 for hood inserts, $600 for tail lights

Yeah they look great, was it worth it. Repops probably will look good for many years and were not available when I did my car.

A numbers matching high dollar car restore original, clone or average car, repops OK if quality is good

My 2 Cents

Nice Dart convert, Wildcat. Who did the plating on your parts? Is your dart original except for the wheels? Mike

I will be at B E&A next week looking at a shifter, I will check out the hood inserts and consols.

Advanced Plating in Nashville did most of it.

There is very little about my car that would be concidered original

All convertibles were a GT or better. was a slant 6 auto on the column buckets with no console, 13" wheels, am radio, no power anything

Now a 340, 4 speed with console, PS, AC, Am/Fm radio, custom interior with 68 Buckets, 69 hood and stripe (painted on), pearl paint, plush carpet, front and rear sway bars, disc brakes on front, 8 3/4 rear with 10" drums, cloth top

It has the same grill and tail lights, passenger side and rear top glass

Clone GTS

Well I just got back from BEA, replaced all the parts that I had out for chrome plus a shifter knob for half of what I was going to pay to have them re chromed. Looks good, cant wait to install it! Quality is great and Mike loves his Mopars, he's not just in it for the cash.
