My #!!#@#*%# Nephew!

I've had great luck buying and selling cars/trucks with my friends. Maybe I'm lucky that I have a good group of friends. Family is another matter. My wife and I wanted to buy her grandpa's Chrysler (whatever that thing was called, it was a 96). Anyway, it was a nice car, you know, a garage kept old persons car that had low miles and hadn't been dragged along the garage door opening yet. Well, we went and drove it and told him we wanted to buy it. He said OK. We needed a week to get some money out of the bank as he wanted $5 or $6 k for the car, which was a good price. I guess he was worried about getting rid of it fast for some reason ($$). He sold it to his son, my wife's uncle, out from under us. This is the guy that has 30k in his checking account at all times. I'm sure he was pressured by his son to sell the car to him, but we got the lame excuse. At the time my wife was driving a 95 Neon that was always breaking down and the air didn't work. A year or two later he sold his Toiletta truck to my wife's brother for $1 and continued to insure it for months for him because he "didn't have the money". The week he bought it he put a $350 stereo in the damn thing. Her dad stiffed me $500 on a Road Runner I sold him once too. No big deal 'cause I've used him for his carpentry skill more than enough to make that up.
My cousin, now going back over 15 years, had a 72 Charger he needed to sell. I talked it over with him and he told me a price. After some thought I told him I wasn't in need of another car (I already had a 72 and a 74 Charger). He lived with my grandparents and they were returning from Florida after spending the winter there. Long story short, I came home from work one night and popped the garage door open. There sat the Charger with the title on the dash. OK, not what I expected, but I fixed a couple minor problems with the car and sold it, then gave him the $$ we had previously agreed upon. He was mad at me for not giving him all the money.

My father always used to just GIVE me his old cars, and would hound me to come and get them. No problems there.
