I'm looking for some freindly advice on how to install the windshield and rear glass on my '70 dart.Any leads would be appreciated. I need basic directions,m as well as what sealer ,and how to apply the sealer etc. Thanks !

Very best, most friendly adivise I got is let a glass shop install them. Even when they will not warrenty the work because of a re used gasket it will be a better job.

Try calling Safelight Glass the largest USA chain of Auto glass. They were able to install the glass I had for a 73 Duster. took em 3 guys and still same price for install. Give em a call, n explain your situation.

Hope this helps , Eric

Is it a cemented or non cemented type? I could scan and post what the 1971 Body Service Manual says if you wish, although I strongly believe that you should follow Redfish and Eric's advice.
If you haven't done it before better try it on another car and then on yours LOL!

It came out with a gasket, and some sort of black sealer that seemed to be where the gasket mounted to the body, and there was sealer on the glass also. Is it wise to reuse the gasket? I heard that the replacement ones dont fit well.If you could post what it says in the body manual, that would be helpful and appreciated, Thanks R.

You can reuse the gaskets if you spend the time needed to clean them.
The black urathane sealant isn't easy to clean up. A heat gun will soften it on the body (no heat on the gasket) and some solvents will cut it slowly. Dont soak the gaskets in chemicals such as kerosene either! They will grow ! The sealant also needs an ambient temp of atleast 70 degrees when installing.
Hope this helps

Careful not to drip or otherwise get any sealant on hradlinner, sunvisors, dash, or package shelf. Clean up is a chore.

What part of the car is the "fence" they refer to? The lip of the car body, or the groove in the gasket?

I did my own windshield a few years ago. I went to the glass shop and they gave me two different sealers. I don't rember what the sealers were, but one type was used to seal the gasket to the body and the other sealed the glass into the gasket. And it leaked afterwards. I am planning to reinstall another windshield in the duster I am working on now. This time I will have the gasket cleaned and ready, as well the glass cleaned and ready. I will call a friend who works in a glass shop to come over and help me install it.
