I am in process of getting a 70 Swinger and need help with tire sizes. Will be getting small bolt rallyes all the way around and want decent size tires but want no rubbing issues. Will be running BFG T/As. What size can I use to make the tires a little bigger in the back than the front? Any leads on a split bench seat with a fold down armrest in white. Thanks for the help!!
Chas.
P.S. Will 14X7 Western Indy Slot mags fit in the back or are these wheels too wide? They are about 3 1/4 inch offset? Thanks again.

I have stock rallyes with 245/60/14 on my Swinger.

245X60X14 work on the front as well? Seems I remember having a size close to this on my 71 some years ago. I am working on a set of rallye wheels with 235X60X14 tires from a guy who lives by me. As this tire will be just a 'smidge' smaller in height than a 245 my guess is these will work too. Just worried about the rubbing sidewall issues. Thanks!!!!
Chas.

My 71 rubbed a little in the front with 4.25 inch of BS with 235's. Had to trim the bottom front of the wheel well to make them clear.

Hey Chas,
After you get your Dart you'll have to post some pictures.
I'm not to far from you and I also have a 70 Dart.

Correction, those are 225/60-15's on the front-not 235's. Sorry about that

So the rims you have are 15" wih 4.25 backspacing? Are they 7" wide rims?

Looks like the rear tires are quite close to the inner lip on the 1/4 panel; did you have to cut the lip or did the 235's just fit?

I have a 70 dart put 235/60/14 on the rear with stock rally's no rubbing
at all did not have to roll or cut rear fender lip at all. But I did roll it some
day want to fit bigger tiers out back. Looks like I can fit a 10 in wide tire
in there now with the rite back spacing.

Yes, the rims are cop car rallies and measure 15 x 7 with 4.25 inches of BS. Those are 245's on the rear and since the rear isnt exactly centered in the car, I had to roll the lip on the passenger side to clear. I dont think I have to on the drivers side but I may just for some added insurance. I used a baseball bat and rolled the tire by hand to get it rolled up in there. Worked pretty well.
