My dart vs 1969 Chevelle "396" predictions

Even with the good gas they had back in the day, a SS 396 (most were only 325hp) was only a mid 14 to low 15 sec car. I wouldn't worry about it.

There is no point to build a 396 in todays world (other than stock resto) so I wouldn't expect his mods to be much more than standard bolt ons and maybe some home port work.

BUT!!! My best friend has a 71 Chevelle SS, 396 (402ci in 71) with standard bolt ons that DID run 11.70s with a 250-hp NOS shot. Car now has a 502 and runs the same 11.70 without NOS.

So The real answer is ..... Who knows.

Really......... Back in the day the SS 396 was just a nice car with good power. It was the junky 55 Chev with a 12 to 1, 327 that everyone feared.
