Hi,
I am building a 1970 duster 440 with a 4 spd. I bought a 12 inch bell housing not knowwing that it is too big. I have sold it, and now I am looking for a 10.5 inch bellhousing and 130 tooth fly wheel.

My Question is, does anyone know if I can use a clutch fork from a small block bell housing for the 10.5 inch big block bell housing?

I will be needing to buy lots of new parts for this project, and I will be buying them from brewers performace in Ohio. Unless I can find them cheaper somewhere else.

I have a clutch fork from a small block that measures the same length, but I don't know if the pivot point would be at the same spot.

Just let me know what you think.

Thanks a bunch!8)

PS does anyone have any 10.5 inch bell housings around? Or an 130 tooth fly wheels? Bell housing cast # 2468370, 2468372, or 2892513. Let me know, I need them so I can have my car in my wedding in July this summer!!!

Thanks robbie,

How is the condition of it. If you hit it with a hamer, does it ring, or sound cracked?

are the threads good? is it aluminum or steal?

where abouts are you?

and last but not least....how much.

Phil

Let me try to get a pic in the AM (Monday) It's an aluminum bell I got from a friend a few yrs back. It has the boot and pivot and the pin for the zbar. Also the inspection cover is there. The pin should be replaced. How about 65.00 plus shipping? Remember this was from a friend with a B body and you should check to see if it will work in your car!
Send me your email address, I'm having truble sizing the pic's...Bob

I got the pics from the email. Thank you.

I couldm't see the part # clear enough. Can you please measure the round hole on the bell housing ( where the tranne comes through)

I am pretty sure that this bell housing will work. what was the casting # again?

as gar as shipping goes, you should be able to get a quote with just this info...

The only thing I would like you to do Is when mailing it to put down under the description that it is....USED CAR PART USED USED USED,

otherwise I would have to pay dutie.

I have paypal to pay, do you axcept paypal?

let me know :)

the bellhousing you need is a lakewood as the small block A body used a 4.35 retainer and the bell housing hole should be 4.35 area, the big block trans used the 4.80 hole retainer. adapter kit comes with the lakewood and has 2 bolt patterns for big and small block, runout on b housing should not exceed .. you can also just change tail shafts off a 4,80 b or e body trans for big block to an A body tailshaft. with the lakewood shield and shift rods clearances may be an issue with the under chassis headers. regards

if your not using an A body 4 speed try the e body and expect to do a lil bending of shifter

the lake wood also comes with the adapter to go from 4.35 to 4.80 or vice versa.

He's right, the pic's show a tape on the bell and it's 4.80. If I needed to get on the road I'd use a 727...then look for the parts for the 833. The # is 2892513. Good luck what ever you decide...Bob

So does it REALLY matter if i use a tranny with a smaller retainer than the opening on the bellhousing.???

If it is a problem, Can I buy a new retainer for the tranny that is the same size as the round opening on the bellhousing.

Do you guys understand this???](*,)

i thought I have found a bell housing from someone on this site, But I don't want to buy a bellhousing that I can't use again. It is one of the casting # that I know works for this conversion. I am just haveing problems mentioned above with it.

I think you can try Passon for the right way to do this conversion. If you still want the bell it's boxed and ready to ship. It's close to 20 lbs, and if you want a shipping est let me know who you want to use as the carrier. Find out if you can use this one. Here's the email address. Hope I didn't break any rules....Bob

I found an adapter from Brewers Performance for $29.99. I have sent them an email asking if this will work for My tranny and your bellhousing.

I am 99.999999% sure I am going to buy your bell housing. I am just going to wait till I hear back from them. I am sure I will get an answer later today, or definatly tomarrow. I have been emailing them over 40 times in the last month, and they respond quickly.

Please Find out shipping for me to the address I have given you. Its not the full address, but it will be able to get a quote.

as far as a shipping company goes, It doesn't matter. I would like to get it in about 1 week from purchasing it, and have it insured. Hopefully Shipping won't cost much more than $50. Would be nice if it was like $20 :):), But at this point I will pay most anything, as long as it is actual shipping costs.

You wouldn't be able to set up a paypal accoount, would you??? it would be sooo much faster. If not, I understand.

Let me know asap so I can send you money

I AM SOOOO HAPPY:cheers:

This Forum ROCKS\\:D/

OK you've got it, how should I ship it..postal, DHL, Fedex,UPS...UPS and postal is the easiest for me. Who do you guys use in the frozen north?

ussually, dog sled, tabogan, skidoo. But thats only if the snow isn't that bad. Its almost spring now, so they should be able to make it through the tundra. they might have to make a couple iglues on the way ;)

Like I said earlier, I really don't have a preferance. which ever one is closest to you.

I am going to be ordering a flywheel for my car.

My question is, How do I know which flywheel I need? Internally ballanced, or externally balanced? for the 440 4spd

Thanks

Phil
