filter to valve body o ring?

Hi,

Is there supposed to be an o ring or a gasket between the filter and valve body on a 904?

There wasn't one on the screen that i took off (rebuilt by a mecanic), and there isn't one in the new filter kit i got either.

I'm assuming that it is submerged enough in oil.

I don't believe the Dacron filters require a gasket. The deep pan kits with the filter extensions come with them. The high flow copper mesh filter that came with my Transgo kit had a gasket.

ok, maybe i will call the guy that rebuilt my tranny tommorow and ask him. I'm not sure i would take it back there, but i can check. After he rebuilt my tranny he painted it silver, told me that he always does that to make it look better. When i dropped the pan i found out why it has been leaking a little, he also painted the gasket.
