Need Opinions/ 1970 gtx or 71 Challenger RT
Hey,
Sorry this is not about a-bodies, but would love any opinions. Long story, but I will try to make it quick. Several years ago, I brought a numbers matching, auto on the colum, ac, disc brakes, power steering, build sheet, fender tag, 1970 GTX that was running driving car. It needed floor pans, trunk pan etc.. I took it to the body shop, car was torn apart (but bagged & tagged). Got the run around for about a year or so, got frustrated, sold the GTX but stayed in touch with the new owner. I recently ran across a 71 RT Challenger I brought (340, ac, disc brakes, auto, 73 model 340 motor, no fender tag, but true 340 rt car based on vin, door tag, cowl / rad. stampings.)
Tried to buy the GTX back almost as soon as I sold it but the new owner did not want to sell, of course now that I have the Challenger, he has decided to sell the car back if I want it. The GTX has been apart for several years now, a couple of different guys have worked on it, just not sure if I would not be better off with the Challenger. GTX still needs some body work and to be reassembled, painted, interior, motor rebuilt etc. Challenger would need similar work, but the body is not as bad as the GTX was to begin with. GTX has rechromed bumpers, all parts needed to rebuild motor, new 15" mag. 500 wheels.
I would need to sell the Challenger to get the GTX. Would love to have both, but can't.
Which one would you guys go with.
