The 9G266504 is a partial VIN number. 9 = '69, G = Car was built at the St. Louis plant, and 266504 is the sequence number

16-1/2" long tail shaft is a B/E/Turck/Van tailshaft length, so it's a '69 B-body trans.

A-body tail shafts are approx. 12" long.

You might want to try listing it over on the Moparts forum in the lost and found section- someone may be looking for their car's original 4-speed.
