Who's running a Holley Strip Dominator on a small block? Do you use a PCV valve? If so, where do you connect it on the intake?

You can add a spacer and drill your own but a lot single planes were made for serious street strip only. In other words, header evac system or open breathers.
 
That's kinda what I thought. I'm not gonna go with an evac system (not yet, anyway), so I'll just grab a couple of breathers.

this is the first alum. intake i ever bought. i bought it in 1977 & still have it! it is on my 360 with eddy heads. as for a pcv valve, i just hooked it up thru the base of the carb. right now i am just running open breathers in both valve covers.

I ran one of those intakes on '71 Duster 340 back in the early '80,s.
Yes i ran it with a pcv, i put a 1" spacer on it with a fitting drilled and tapped
into the back of it for the pcv hose.

My 750 DP Holley has the hook up on the base plate. That's where my PCV hose is hooked too.

I thought connecting the pcv to the carb was a Bad Thing? Something about ported vacuum or not? I don't really remember what it was, but I recall something going on and that's why I had it plugged into the intake instead of the carb. Or maybe I'm wrong?
 
Fred B is right! I thought you may have been running a Holley Dominator.

Is your ride a strip only machine? I had a single plane street dominator on a Ford I built back in the day and it was a damn good manifold.

Yep. I haven't made any runs with this intake yet so I don't know how good it is. But I'll find out soon!
 
like written earlier use the big port on the baseplate of the carb:)
with that manifold check all plugs when setting up your carb, i used to run one and the fuel distribution is alitle odd, checking pluggs after serius ful throtleblast always showed diferent collored plugs, ranging from lean to slightly fat the horrible bit is that diferent cylinders run fat or lean depending on rpm and how much throtle you open up, plug colloring was in pairs paired upp like the intakerunners on the manifold very odd in my eyes but a nice working manifold except for that
 
Have a look at the pic in the first post... there's a pipe sticking out of the front under the water neck. It won't come out. Any suggestions? I've tried heating it, WD-40'ing it, pipe wrench, etc.

I was thinking about just capping it with a rubber cap but I can't find one that big. Maybe a plumbing supply place?
 
I found a way around it... I took a piece of 1" hose and put a plug into the end of it. A couple of hose clamps and it seems to be good.
 
Get a water pump plug,simple rubber cap and one hose clamp .it will look neater.They are used to plug heater hoses bosses when theyre not used.
 
If you run a pcv to the carb make damn sure youre valve covers are baffled or you,ll suck oil and foul plugs.
 
"Machine it out" how? I can't get the thing to budge, I tried an internal pipe wrench, easy out, etc.

You could have it EDM'd out. EDM stands for Electrical Discharge Machining. It's not cheap but it leaves the threads perfect. Might be really pricey though....
 
If it really bothers you cut it off and tap it for a big allen plug.I think those are pressed in but they may be inserted in the casting process.

Eh, that's no good. Pricey, I mean, I didn't pay a whole lot for the intake in the first place...

It's not "bothering" me, but I need to cap it off somehow otherwise I'll have coolant leaking out all over the place.
 
I know napa carries those plugs. I didnt mean bothering you like that. Sometimes things bother us till we fix them and sometimes they dont and we never get around to fixing them.
