First time out

That is so cool. Congrats on the win. And I bet you were one of the only Mopars there too. That makes it that much sweeter.

There was about 10 mopars there, but I was the only one in the street class.

Here is another picture, notice the dart in the background also.

Great job. What a way to start racing. Keep up the good work. I hope to have my Dart back together and at the track by mid June.

Darn good run DartSport! I'm also interested in your combo as you sound like you got that bad boy runnin' good.

Pretty mild combo. 360 around 10 to 1 compression. 587 heads with stock valves, mopar 292/509 cam. Weiand Stealth intake, 850 speed demon. Probably overcarbed but its what I had. 4-speed, 8 3/4 with 4.88 gear. I need to do a little more tuning play with the timing and jets. I could use some help with that. Where should my total timing be at I was figuring around 36. I'm running 82 and 85 as far as jetting goes. I think I am also limited with that intake. Any help that could improve my peformance would be helpfull. Thanks Rick

yes, you are over carbed - I doubt you will have enough vacuum to open the secondaries. A 750 would work way better. 34-36* should be good - all in by 2500rpm. Too much gear too IMHO.
Try 77 /85s to keep 8 size difference to compensate for the power valve in the primary side.

I'm still learning as well DartSport. So all I can say is to have your timing spot on before you mess with that carb. There are a lot of folks here that know way more than me, however, you seem to be on track. You may also want to play with the mech. springs in your distributor, as I have learned. Regardless, still a GREAT run.

Don't need vaccum to open the secondaries its a mechanical carb. Seems to open right up, doesn't hesitate at all. I did put a light on it today and initial timing was around 20 and total was at 44 now its 15 and 36 need to get to the track to see what difference this makes.
