What years were they available and do they have any collectability factors?

I know of one possibly for sale with a 360.

I would consider them more a Novelty, then collectible.

Unless someone HAS to have the space Duster feature, it falls more into the "hey that's cool" thing, but not much more....

Any of the 360-4bbl dusters is collectable to some extent. I've seen some nice original ones go for $20k.

Yeah, I was going to say that it would be more valuable if it's originally a 360 car than it would be as a Space Duster.

A 360 Space Duster is a lot rarer than a regular Space Duster just like a 360 Dart Sport Convertriple vs a /6 or 318 one.

My 340 Dart Sport is one of 11,314 but how many of them were Convertriples with A/C and hood scoops, etc and High Impact paint?

Not more than a hand-full.

They were available from 1973-1976 and I would consider the 340 & 360 cars very collectible even though those years are looked down upon by muscle car owners. Other engine combos are still very cool.

Think about a 1973 Duster or Dart Sport 340 with sunroof & fold down rear seat options. It's a ONE year only combination!!! I have a list of about 8 owners and I doubt there is only a couple more I haven't come across while keeping records. I've put my car up for sale several times and get alot of interested people making offers for it. I have several people standing in line to buy it if I ever seriously decide to sell mine.

I also believe the 1974-1976 360 cars are probably rarer as far as # of cars still left on the road but the 360 doesn't get quite as much respect even though it should in my opinion.

Here's several pics of mine.

That's a real nice one! I like the fold-down seat/space option and that was one of the factors in my buying decision. But it is a clone car saved from the crusher and rebuilt by me, nowhere near that nice. I sometimes wonder if the lack of bracing across the back seat is a liability in terms of structural rigidity/strength.

Awesome ride my340.
I can see those year styles getting more popular with mopar guys especially since new cars keep getting gayer and gayer thus making our older cars that much more desirable.

Amen to that! And I for one won't resort to buying a big truck to make me look masculine.:-D On a different note, would it be possible to convert an earlier non-Space Duster to have the fold-down seat?

Yes, but there would be some cutting/welding involved and the gas filler tube is different to allow room for the divider panel to lay flat when open.

Find a rusted out A-body with the fold down seat option at a junk yard and strip the parts out of it.

that would be my duster :)

it's not an original 360 car, it was a 318-2 originally, that motor is in nick's 4 door satellite.
1976 'space' duster, 360 w/B&M flexplate balance adapter, 318 torque converter, 904, 8 1/4.

Production Numbers

73 340 Dart Sport....11,315

74 360 Dart Sport..... 3,951

73 340 Duster..........15,731

74 360 Duster...........3,969

75 360 Duster.......... 1,421

76 360 Duster Not Available

What % of yearly production do you suppose was a Convertiple or Space Duster? Very few.

my mistake, what a gentle way of saying im wrong,
its a 74, not a 76, i was a bit distracted posting that.
thanks :)

Rabius,....

I SHOULD have stated that the 1976 360 Duster production numbers ARE NOT LISTED. They did build a few.
Remember that the (shudder)Aspen/Volares were being shoved off the assembly lines in mid 76.

Sorry for any confusion.
