I have been restoring this dart for three years. It originally started as a slant six car.I converted to a 340 with 450hp,727 with 323 sure grip and 83/4 rear.I have done all of the work myself except rebuilding the motor and the paint.the first year i just wanted to have a rolling chassy, the second year i had the engine built, and now in the third year i am doing the paint and hope to have it on the road in a month or so. the hardest part of building this car has been finding parts.Being from a small city, Saint John N.B. Canada. Most parts i had to acquire from eBay as there are no donor cars available in this part of Canada.I really think it will be something i will be very proud of.This is my first restoration project.I am sure i will build another someday in the future.I have always been a die hard mopar fanatic, and will be till the day i die. MOPAR OR NO CAR.I hope you all enjoy.

This car has Spitfire headers, they fit very well .The only clearance issue was the steering coupler rubs against the headder knocking the metal clip off of the seal on the coupler.I would love to find a universal joint adapter that i could use instead to fix this.Anyone know of where to get one?

Nice Dart! I myself am "working" on a 70 as well. Things are a little slow on my side but I have all the time in the world I guess. How far are you from Minnesota?

Nice car!

I've got a 70 too,but still collecting parts. Havent started on the resto and I've had the flipping car since 92!

Financial barrier is a big one...sucks when stuff is priced out of reach.

Thanks for the reply s.I will post some more pics of the car when it is completed. The interior is all original and the car only has 44000 original miles.

Hey, I'm only about an hour away from you in Fred. I have had my hands on a lot of parts over the years. If I can help in what you are lookin for let me know.
Darren.

Hey Gary, glad you finally made it here. Just to let everybody know, Gary and I live about 7 miles apart. I have been for a little jaunt in his Dart last summer on a side road, it does go good.

I saw your car at Pat's last week Gary, it is looking real good! I hope it's ready for the Nat's in Moncton in 6 weeks. Join us in the chat room the odd night. The best time is about 9:30 our time.

Jack

Gary nice project, where did you get this project vehicle from, definately alot better than what I started with. My name is Marvin, I too am building a 70 swinger but at am at a stand still right now due to a severe stroke. I see you know Jack he is a super great guy! Darren I haven't forgotten about you, I am still in rehab! I would be interested in knowing what you have for parts, just kind of holding off on buying anything right now due to lack of funds as I am on disability and Wendy is on maternity leave. Also I want to see if I am going to be able to finish the build, depending on how much I get back the use of the right side of the body back. Keep in touch!

Hello Gary.
Tell me about the hood.

Is it a sticker or painted?

If it is a sticker where can I get one?

I would like to do my hood like that, just need some info.

Thanks
John

70'dart,I am sorry to hear that your health is not good.I hope you have a speedy recovery.I located my dart in Saint John, from it's original owner. It had sat in a heated garage since 1983 or 22 years until i got it.There was not a hole in the body anywhere. One of the torsion bar sockets had twisted out.I ordered new torsion bar frame repair pieces from Auto Rust Technicians and replaced both sides of this known WEAK area of the frame. That is all that was wrong with the whole car. After buying new .920 Dia. torsion bars and a set of extra heavy duty springs, she sits better than the day she came off the assembly line.Building this car has been a big expense, but my wife has encouraged me to finish it and it has been worth every penny.

johnny dart,I had my painter paint all of the decals on.I came up with the design of the hood.I am going to have a set of functional ram air hood scoops installed and painted the yellow body color so they will stand out nice.I will post some pics when i get them installed.

If any of you local guys are interested or know of anyone who may be i have a set of buckets minus seat tracks out of a 73 duster that i would like to sell (250),they need to be recovered. And i also have a set of aftermarket ram air hood scoops(150) that i dont need.Let me know.

Hi. Thats a nice looking car, love the yellow nice and bright. Is that the original color? Hope to see you at the nats. Bobby
