I think I reposted this here in a more appropriate section.....

I recently took my 69 340 B'Cuda down the track to the tune of a 14.19 sec ET. Not bad for a stock big valve 340, with a soft shifting 727, shifting at 5500, and 3.23s with an unknown tc.

Now,my more common cruiser, my 73 Duster, is next in line. The combination is as follows: 6,000 mile 318, rebuilt and cleaned up 318 small valve heads, Comp XE268 cam, comp lifters, comp springs, new Mopar HP rocker shafts, arms, Hooker 1 5/8" headers, Holley 650 DP w/70 jets, 8:5:1 replacement pistons, 4" tall K&N Xtreme air cleaner. The exhaust is a full 2.5" flowmaster setup with an H-pipe. The trans is a 904 with a Trans go shift kit and the converter is near stock at the moment. The 8 1/4 contains 3.21 gears.

I wont have it at the track for a while. Before the rebuild, it ran 15.7 with manifolds,Edelbrock 600 carb, and Comp260 cam(single pattern).

What do all of you think it will run in the quarter at the moment and what kind of power do you think this combo puts out? Yes, its not a fire breather, but just a nice cruiser with what feels like a significant amount of pep and excellent power for what it is.

A figure that floats up from the

"magic 8-ball spherical dyno" is

indicative of *possibly* up to

around a 0.3-0.4 reduction in E.T.

Switching to Walker Dynomax Ultraflows

and a Dr. Gas "X"-pipe would really help

in getting fuller benefit of the cam & headers.--- 8)

Hmmm, maybe a slightly freer flowing muff would help, but I wouldnt think it would much.

It feels quicker than 15.3-15.4, possibly high 14s, so I am not sure.

My cousins 72 dart has a stock rebuilt 318 (only 8.1-8.5 comp) with a crane 272 single pattern cam (216 @.050 and .454 lift 110 lobe seperation),peformer intake,600 holley and cheap headers with 2.5 exhaust, summit mufflers and h-pipe.The car is full weight and has a 904,mild stall, and 3.23 gears with 245/60/15 radials and he managed several 14.70s in 90 degree heat on the the street tires.Im sure he would have ran mid to low 14s but his tranny was acting up and wouldnt upshift correctly, hope this helps.

That feels about what mine is capable of. I guess my mind isn't too far off. Those number are quick for a 318 cruiser and I would be happy with them.

Hey MOPARJ - Good time on your '69 B'Cuda. Waaaaaay back in the early '70's, my stock '69 340 Swinger ran 14.28 at OCIR in SoCal. Also with a 727 manually shifted at 6000rpm and a 3.23 non-SureGrip on Goodyear Polyglas tires.
Sure do miss OCIR. It was known as the 'Supertrack' back then and would still be up to date almost 40 years later.
Continue to have fun with both of your cars. They aren't any fun if you can't drive 'em!
