1966 Valiant Signet Convertible Resto

Member named Wildcat turned me onto these guys for the fabric. Plus they have vendors in LA and shop to recommend.

http://www.ezonauto.com/

Will cost about $450 for the fabric and I guess another $400-600 for the install. Yikes. I have looked at the sample colors and found a medium blue that will look perfect. It will be a nice contrast to the very dark Midnight Blue Metallic body color.

I'll look them up as well Don, Thanks.

C`mon Dave! What's a nuther grand at this point? Sheeeet... :-D

Besides, when we're all kissing your *** on the cover shot you'll probably get for Hot Rod or Mopar Muscle you'll be thinking "Yeah...it was all worth it".

Wow Dave, I love reading this as you go along, its like a great movie where you know that the hot chick is gonna end up being the best. Yes I know its a lame comparison but I am tired and that truck lid looks amazing, I can't wait to see more, and you have inspired me to get on the guy who is doing my body work.

yea its only money youll get more he says thats funny as helll,,, dave ull geta magazine shot no doubt in my mind, im trying to get mine running i have a mag that wants a deal in july,, looking grim,,every thing keeps getting in the way,,, god luck,, cant wait to se your shell dressed

Well I had a great day today. I finished up getting the steering column installed. It took a little bit of extra tweaking since I did some custom work on it to make it look like a floor shift column. Plus the set screw on Flaming River U-joint was a bear to get at because of the headers. I still need to put one more shim under the driver's side mount to get everything to clear just right.

The best part of the day was cruising around the block and getting the thumbs up from the neighbors as I peeled out of the driveway with a shell of a car.

It has been a long time since the car has been on the road. I still have some kinks (small exhaust leak, vacuum leak at intake manifold, tune carb, new plug wires, alignment, bleed brakes again, etc) to work out but she's getting there.

Talk about a healthy shot of steroids going from a 273 2 bbl. auto to a sick as **** 340 5-speed. This car has some guts for sure. I was a little nervous about getting into her too hard since she's not street legal yet. I was tempted to do a nice burnout but too many cars on the street and I didn't want to get sideways.:toothy10:

So she is headed back down to LA for a fresh re-paint after all the hours I put into the body. She's going to look bitchin'. Hoping to have her back by Tuesday. In the mean time while my painter is knocking out the body I'll be colorsanding the doors and tying up other loose ends.

I'm in a crunch to get her as complete as possible for the Spring Fling. She will be there by trailer or on her own 4 feet. I will not cut any corners that's for sure.

Here are a couple of maiden voyage videos. You can see the exhaust leak on the bottom one and I flooded the carb. LOL. Wheel are really toed in too. Enjoy.

Yeah it been a long lingering road on the paint. I just wanted it to be as perfect as I can get it so I did a lot of the work myself. It has been a good learning experience for sure with paint and body. I will be painting my next car myself after this.

Got both doors all color sanded today and they are ready to be buffed out to a mirror finish. I got a little test area buffed out and I'm happy. My arms are going to fall off.

i agree with john. you're going full tilt. your car is going to be awesome. it sounds AWESOME!!!! i bet you can't wait for your 1st 5k shift. all in due time.

Been busy with vacation, weddings, parties and busy with other stuff. Things are finally coming together bit by bit. I finally got the doors on. They lined up really nicely thanks to new bushings. I also got the fenders and trunk lid installed. I still need to align the fenders and trunk lid. Man I tell you what that weatherstripping goo is like slinging ultra sticky boogers.

I still have more buffing to do but I just want to get everything together first. I'll get the windshield installed Thursday I hope and the window regulators too. Next week I hope to have the rest of the body put together. The final touches will be the trim, interior, and lastly the canvas top....etc etc. I never be done of course.
