grabed the drive shaft and shook it. There is some play where the yoke slips into the tranny. What bearing or bushing is there? and is it easy to change?
That could be your problem, there should be minimal slop there. When your'e in neutral & moving it could be bouncing around because there's no load. In the tailshaft there's a coated bushing about 3 inches long that the driveshaft rides on. You have to remove the tailhousing to replace, you need a special tool to install it right. Any trans shop can replace easily, it's the same as those on 727 automatics.
