Your First Car??

-
64 BARRACUDA 4 speed it was donated to my highschool . i bought it from the school in 1992 when i was 15 for $300 its been apart several times since. ive gotten the most tickets in this car .. i think my record is 3 weeks between tickets.
i still own it and it is currently in a non running state ( i call it my jackstand racer lol)

My first car I purchased in 1990, or actually I got it for free, paid for the front fiberglass fenders. It was a Volvo Amazon (121) from 59. Several years later and a lot of cars passing by I decided to by myself a musclecar. I actually initially searched for a Chevelle or a Firebird but ended up with a Barracuda Notchback 67 in 1999. A rusty project which needed just about anything... Within a year I bought a 2door 67 Valiant for daily driving and a 68 Barracuda Formula340S for my streetbeater. I have had some non-Mopar american muscle, and non-muscle and I am glad I went with Mopar.
And the notchback? I did the bodywork and primed, never finished it. Someone else did and it looks beautiful http://www.moparsweden.com/meets2005/bilder/nothcback2.jpg

My first car was a 1965 Buick Skylark 4 door that I bought from the original owner - a little old lady who cried when her daughter sold it to me. It had a 2 speed powerglide type tranny and an 300 CID "nailhead" engine. I used to be able to load about 30 of my friends in that thing and go cruising. Ok, maybe not 30 but it would fit 7 or 8 people comfortably. I named it "BOB" (Big Old Buick), and we used to go off-roading with it. If I stood on the gas it would chirp the tires from 1st to 2nd gear. I used to be able to take the key out of the ignition one it was started, and then my brother discovered that it could be started with a screwdriver so he used to take it for joyrides when I wasn't around.

The ashtrays in the back seat were stuffed with roaches when I got the car, I guess the old lady's grandkids used to use the car.

70 Barracuda 318/904 that I paid $350 for in 1979 in Connecticut. Towed it out to Colorado and beat the crap out of it. As it was rusting, I sold it to a co-worker for $125.

It was a 1967 Plymouth Sport Fury 318 auto console, black vinyl top, white paint, and LOADED......drove like a Caddy........REALLY miss that car......I put the big Superbird "Plymouth" letters on the sides of the quarters as a Senior year graphic art project............Got an A baby! (and that progressed slowly into A Body.............Which also are an "A" in my book).....

Wish I had her back........elegant ride........Those things look great with custom wheels and chrome tipped duals...........MMMMMMMMM mmmmmmmmmmm. :-D

Close. How about AMC? My first (before I was old enough to drive) was a '67 Rambler Rebel, 2 door, 327, 4-speed. This was back in around '77. First car I started turning wrenches on.

Ha! Ill blow all these cars outta' the water with my 79 Corola hatch back! Nah but in reality, I could drive the hell outta that car. Hell I even had that car air born a few times! LMAO Id probley buy another if I came across one.
Only drove that for about a year or so before I went to Alaska for the summer. I went strictly to make money to buy an old muscle car. I looked at several Chevelles. Glad I never got one! Then I seen my little 69' Valiant 2 door in the paper. 350.00 asking price! Bought it for 250.00, drove it home and the rest is history. Oh wait, no, its still happening! LMAO

73 Duster, 318/904/7.25. Great car, not too fast, but just enough. Later installed a 360/727 out of a Fury III, headers, intake, 4v, and a Dana 60! My buddy borrowed it and snapped the flexplate, said he was just driving along...

Bought my aunty's `62 valiant back in 1970 at fifteen years old for
150 bucks. Silver 2dr. with red interior.
My old man worked for ma Bell and drove novas, falcons, and valiants. He swore the vals were a WAY better cars than the others.

for sure leaving notes on cars works!!

current cars:
67 Valiant 100 2dr.
68 Dart 2dr. sedan
70 D400 133" wheelbase stake bed

First car was a 64 2dr Dart with a 170 CID w/Push button auto. Great on gas fun little car. Senior year I bought my sisters Demon 340. Thirty + years later and 46 cars later. I still own 3 Dodges and hope to add atleast 1 more uh maybe 2 more.

Most of you were pretty darn lucky, my first car was a 1959, 4 door Austin Cambridge, trying looking cool in that 8) It was free though so what's a poor kid gonna do :-D

Took me about a year to beat it into submission and moved onto a 64 Fairlane Sports Coupe

First for me was a 53 olds coupe, 3 speed on floor. Never forget I reved it in front of the hangout "dog house restaurant (all gearheads)" and blew a u- joint, they all had a good laugh. Drag raced my buddies 60 chevy 283 and got my doors blown off. It had a scan bar on the radio, which was high end in those days. Walt:cheers:

well when you say 1st car, thats a tricky one for me, cuz my 1st car was a 73 dart sport, but i was gonna rebuild it,but i found out how rusty it was so i was never able to drive it, my 1st driver was a 85 5th ave, and the 1st car i bought myself was my 87 5th ave lol

1948 Plymouth Deluxe. 4 door with the sucide doors in the rear (the doors open from the front with the hinges in the back). Had the orginial flat head six. That engine had lots of torque. I could smoke the rear tires with ease.

Was given to me by my father in the late 60's. By the time I bought new tires, put in new king pins (how many people remember what these are?) and other repairs, I had invested more then it was worth for that those days. Had a lot of run in that car and great memories.

My first was a '74 Satellite Sebring Plus 318 automatic. My second was the '69 383 Formula S I still own. I have also owned an '82 Dodge Colt, an '85 Shelby Charger, an '86 Shelby GLHS, and an '87 Shelby GLHS. I guess that qualifies me as a MOPAR man.

Technically my first car is my 1966 Rambler Classic. My dad brought it home when I was about 14. He was going to resell it. But I fell in love with it and would not let him get rid of it. Its still in the process of being built, since I'm broke as a joke. But my first running, tagged, insured vehicle is my '94 Ford Ranger. Lol.

First car was dad's 71' 2dr Dart swinger 318 ci.

Second car was also a 71' 2dr Dart w/ shorten 8 3/4, 340ci & A/C.
should have never gotten rid of that car :banghead:

Other mopars I had and are gone:
1970 340 Dart
1971 Plymouth Scamp
1968 4dr Dart
1981 Plymouth Sapporo (I know...kind of a stretch :toothy5:)

I bought my first car in 1985 when I was 15.It was a 1968 Dodge Coronet 440 two door.I still have the car and have it tor down to a bare shell right now.

My first car was a 13 year old '74 AMC Gremlin. Boy...that thing was slow, hideous, and unreliable. I swear it was the crappiest car in my high school's parking lot. :sign11:

I learned to drive in a Road Toad ('60 Valiant) then got my license in 1964 in a '62 Fury. I STILL have the Fury & drive it on a regular basis. In the late 70s I bought a killer mid 60s Turquoise & white Dodge muscle truck with chrome stacks (yep - stacks!) & tons of running lights. My ex-husband ended up with that one in the divorce. Darn!!!! Now I have 2 '65 Barracudas and the '65 Twin Fin Valiant 'vert, and the old Fury, & a '96 Dodge truck. Yes, 40 something years of Mopars for me!

My dad was a mopar guy (back in the day) but he has since turned to GM. So hes the one that really got me hooked. My first car was a 91' Jeep Cherokee 4x4. I thought it was all that & a bag of chips. Since it was a Jeep, im classifing it as a MoPar, but almost everything on it was AMC.

Mine was a 1981 Buick Regal Coupe. Several months of vicious beating turned the V-6 into a V-4, giving me a good reason to toss in the 7400 RPM small block that I'd conveniently built a few months after buying the car. The factory automatic tranny didn't last long behind the much healthier powerplant. Then I made it a 4-speed car (largely because "it couldn't be done"). The rearend came to bits shortly thereafter, and I found out that 4.10 gears and short tires aren't so great for a daily driver in a rural setting. It was a blast between stoplights though. That car put up with a lot of torture over four years.

First car was a 68 dodge dart. The 273 was shot so we put a 360 2brl in it. Ran ok, but then I let a buddy drive it and he was playing around and discovered a weak spot. He slamed on the brakes trying to be funny and it actually broke the upper control arm mount, it was rusty. Shortly after, I bought his brothers 67 coronet 440 /6 car. Best car I ever had and the only car i ever regret getting ride of. I still have pics of me standing next to it.
