what do you think is the best stance for a 71 duster?

Build your car exactly how you want it.

If the car is built right, stance, style, brakes, suspension, A/C, overdrive, modern electronics, etc........tire/wheel size will be secondary to the overall look

If you are putting in a 6.1 hemi and a paddle shifter Manumatic, 15" wheels would be silly and not fit the theme.

The Demon in primer on top is gonna have a 345 wide rear and a 255 front with a 1.5" rake. The real wheels are on order for that car, should be here in a month or so.

I agree. These are all opinions but please at least make your vehicle fit your theme. I guess it really doesn't matter what theme someone picks for their rod, as long as they're happy with it.

I personally wouldn't go any larger than what Abodyjoe's got going but it still fits his personal interpretation of what a hot rod should be and flows well.

My minds eye see's something different for my own project, but what really matters is that as I write this, the back of my head is soaked in motor oil and trans fluid from working on my own ride. As much as anyone would like to tell you, you can't buy personal pride in your own ride. Do it your way.
