Rat Style Muscle Cars

-
I like the rat look. Never have to worry about paint scratches or anything just get in it and drive.

I dunno if it's rat-style, but it's definitely something....

Nice rides guys! Glad to see no one took the "Rat Muscle Car" term in a negative manner, I know a lot of the "Rat Rodders" out there hate the term.

KEEP THE PICS OF YOUR CARS COMING!!! :)

I've been banging around the idea of painting my '70 Duster flat black primer just to make it look that much more menacing. But, my friends like the look of the original faded/cracked metalflake gold, so I suppose I'll keep it like that for a while.

These guys that have "flat black" hotrods actually have a base/clear on them. There is a mat finish clear they use that makes it look like that. Buff it, and it will shine like any other paint.

I used it....

I don't think the "rat muscle car" has to be primered, if anything faded or scruffy original paint is likely more true to the heart of these cars. I know I like it better, that "lived in" feel as opposed to the "made to look rough" or some might say "poser" style.

I'd rather look at crap paint than primer any day, or even worse.... like the honda kids do, 40 spots of primer on a car that had a decent paint job to begin with. Yeah, all that primer looks so much better than that one stone ship ya had......:angry7:

Give me patina over primer any day.

...or even better.....

It's not a "rat muscle car" but it also isn't a trailer queen. It has dings and scratches pretty much on every panel. But then again, I'm not afraid to drive it to the store and park it right in the middle of everyone else. I want to spend my time driving, not worrying that something will happen to my paint job!!

patina -- because it's only original once.

here's my beater...rust spots and all. its had a crappy repaint at one point in its lifetime.

and my other vehicle - yes its a brand X but its ratty nonetheless....the only reason it got the flat black treatment was because the previous owner had spray-painted it camoflage.

I see what you're saying, and I'd be fine with my stock paint if it wasn't that weird gold color. But, I guess if I painted it I'd go all the way with a nice gloss black or Plum Crazy.

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Here is a great little driver I had a few years back and sold to get my new home on the hill started,

It should fit this thread just right.
This 200 valiant took me and my boat to a few good fishing holes
